Fall Fun Coming!
Dear LFP Church Family and Friends,
The calendar turns and like the dipping of evening and morning temperatures, and the change of daily commuting patterns with the return of school, it's clear that a new season awaits.
I always see these times as ripe for reset and renewal. In fact, as I write this I'm planning to get in a long walk and do a refreshed discernment on my rule of life -- that is, the habits and intentions that shape me and form me. I can tell my spirit and physical body needs this reset.
Do you need a refresh for Fall?
One thing to consider is how you are intentionally being formed. Inevitably this can mean looking at habits that form our spiritual life with God, rituals that support our relationships, and practices that move us beyond ourselves into serving others. Or we might think of it as our communion, community and commission.
May I bring your attention to some ways we are inaugurating this season together as a church, and invite you to consider your participation?
September 13
We begin our Fall message series called Coming Home: Welcoming the God Who Draws Near. We'll look at how God's chief aim is to dwell with his people and his creation, as we ponder the invitation into greater communion with God and each other. We'll also bless our students and teachers as they embark on a new school year.
That Sunday evening from 5-8pm we gather all who serve at LFPPC for our Fall Leader Gathering (RSVP). This night we'll dine together, play together, worship and pray together, and explore some themes for our service together as well as some equipping for our ministry tools. I invite anyone, whether you serve here or not, to join for this evening. Please RSVP as soon as possible.
September 20
Our Fall Fest is just another reason to enjoy being together. Come for the worship gathering and stick around for an early lunch as we kick off the new year.
September 27
Connect Sunday is a chance to network with other groups and opportunities, to find out ways to be involved and grow here at LFPPC.
Also, that night our monthly Water From a Deep Well potluck dinner and discussion begins. Sign up now and check out the book resource or podcast episodes from Practicing the Way on our Group page.
October 4
This communion Sunday and annual meeting is going to be unique. We'll have a "Love Feast" down in Fellowship Hall that will combine worship, a meal and our Annual meeting!
As you can see there is a lot happening in the next month!
I look forward to reconnecting together after a great summer, and am excited to see the ways God forms us together this Fall!
Let us know at staff@lfppc.org what questions you have or how we can assist!
With joy in the journey,
Jeff
