Practice makes Better
Dear LFP Church Family and Friends,
Have you ever taken on a new exercise regime to strengthen your heart, or your muscles, or your core? Have you ever played an instrument and felt your fingers ache after practicing for an hour? Have you ever tended to your garden and noticed some blisters forming?
My guess is we can all identify in some way. Practicing a skill takes effort, and we may have the callouses to prove it (or the stronger muscles and heart!). But my guess is that we did it for a reason that is truly good. We did it to create beauty. To be more effective. To be healthier. Perhaps, in the end, we did it for love.
The letter to the Ephesians talks about the body building itself up in love. And I immediately think of all the ways we as a faith community practice using our gifts in order for the body to be built up. This is what it says in 4:15-16.
15 Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ. 16 From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work. (Ephesians 4:15-16 NIV)
If you serve at LFP Church, I want to invite you to a special Fall Leader Gathering on September 7 from 5:00-8:00pm. Register today!
Our theme is "Building Ourselves Up in Love" and this gathering is for ANYONE who serves. We call you "Leaders" because you lead and influence by the way you serve. So whether you see yourself as a leader, this event is for you.
On this night we will gather for worship, share a meal together, laugh and have fun. We will also have time for ministry teams to gather together to get connected and receive coaching and training around ministry-specific agendas. We will finish the night by praying for our year.
Would you make this event a priority, put It on the calendar and RSVP today? Please register even if you accepted an assignment in Services already.
One note about ministry track selections: we anticipate some of you will have to choose which tracks to do because you serve in more than one area. Please prioritize the area that has to do with working directly with people in programs (for example, Sunday school, youth group, or leading a small group). We'll be sure that leaders fill you in on what you might have missed.
If you have not yet plugged into a ministry we would love to talk to you! Email us at staff@lfppc.org and let us know so we can follow up with you!
We look forward to gathering as a team of leaders on September 7!
With joy in the journey,
Jeff
