Connection and Formation
Dear LFP Church and Friends,
Sometime today as I write this I expect to hear the roar of an F-18 fighter jet (or two…or six!) overhead. I have to admit. It ALWAYS makes me a little giddy. I end up running outside onto the deck to see if I can catch a glimpse and most often it's long gone. But sometimes….
This year I actually have plans to be front and center at Genesee Park on Saturday afternoon for SeaFair. What has always impressed me is the dedication to absolute teamwork and communication that the Navy's Blue Angels team demonstrates. I remember seeing a video clip of them visualizing their work together in a conference room…part of their pre-game preparation. Amazing.
In the church we probably don't often feel like that kind of team. :) But, God has wired us to BE a team. Paul describes how we all use our gifts to build each other up in love (Ephesians 4). I pray that in the month of August as we continue to celebrate the summer season, that we also think about how we can lean into life together as a team. God has good things in store for LFPPC and there is a place for YOU on the team.
Will you consider ways that you can be connected to our team this Fall? Check out the Connections Document for more info
One opportunity that presents itself is the new development of a strategy/action team that will present a plan for the property adjacent to the church -- often referred to the "Osgood" property (named after the original sellers). This rental property no longer has a tenant, and presents to us the moment for discernment. This team will gather input, dream, strategize and ultimately work under the authority of Session who will then bring a plan to the Congregation. If this work interests you or you feel like you have specific gifts and skills to bring to this, please email session@lfppc.org or talk to me.
Finally, we want you to be in the loop that our plan to move the preschool playground into the gravel parking lot is finally taking shape. This plan has taken several years to come to fruition and in the month of August work will be underway. This playground will greatly enhance Pepitas Preschool's mission, giving more space for the kind of dedicated play that is important to childhood development. To accomplish this we have completed a lot line adjustment that officially separates the playground area (former gravel lot) with our adjoining rental property. The playground will include a concrete slab, new fencing around the perimeter, and equipment and play structures. We look forward to the first phase being completed before the new school year, and adding enhancements to the playground along the way!
As always, let us know what questions you have and we'll see you soon!
With joy in the journey,
Jeff
Lead Pastor
