The Spirit of Giving

   Dear LFP Church Fam,

Do you ever get those little holiday gift catalogues from your favorite nonprofit -- you know, the kind where you can buy a goat or a chicken for a family, or send a kid to school? I love the tangible nature of these gifts. It's what makes grabbing a gift tag off a Holiday Gift Tree (like the ones we have through Pepitas and Vision House) really special. You know you're impacting a family.

In this season, in addition to the holiday trees, I want to let you know of two specific giving opportunities we encourage everyone to pray about and give generously.

The first is the Christmas Joy Offering which will be collected on December 21 in worship.  Learn more about the Christmas Joy offering, which benefits church leaders and their families in times of need as well as leadership development and education benefitting people of color at Presbyterian-related schools and colleges.

The second opportunity is Christmas Eve. This year our entire Christmas Eve offering will go directly to the diversion work of Vision House, one of LFP Church's mission partners. The Diversion Teams at Vision House are the initial contact that clients have with Vision House. Many people do not qualify to receive housing at Vision House for a variety of reasons (mostly space), but the Diversion Teams work to help EVERYONE who contacts them, steering them toward other resources, being a warm and hopeful partner in meeting needs. This year the need has been huge. We hope you'll consider a gift to this important partner.

To learn more about what diversion looks like in general at Vision House, and a more specific look at the needs of a place like Edmonds, watch these brief videos:

Thank you for your generosity to the ministry of Lake Forest Park Presbyterian Church and our ministry partners.

Your ongoing support of our ministry is giving us the ability to expand our outreach and ministry, and leads ultimately to the work of Christ's transformation in people's lives. God is doing good things in our midst.

As Paul says in 2 Corinthians 9:15: "Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift!"

With joy in the journey,

Pastor Jeff
